IN CONVERSATION WITH SOPHIE MUDD - Numéro Netherlands (1)

Sophie, you’re starring in the highly anticipated HBO’s limited series ‘The Idol’ thatfollows the booming romance between pop singer Jocelynand LA club owner Tedros who is secretly also a cult leader.Tell us how you got cast on this series.

Crazy enough, ‘The Idol’team actually reached out to me on Instagram.I got a DM asking if I could hop on a call and the next day, I was on set filming.

In the series you portray Sophie, who is a member of Tedros’ underground cult. What will be your character’s story throughout the series?

Sophie is a very loyal memberof Tedros’cult and works at his club.

The series has a star-studded cast, from Lily-Rose Depp and The Weeknd to Troye Sivan and Jennie Ruby Jane. How was your experience of working on your first acting role alongside such talented artists?

I had the best time working alongside such a talented cast. I’ve learned so much from each of them in terms of performance. It just makes me want to work even harder. The experience all in all was very inspiring and fun.Actors have the best job in the world.

You have successfully built a dedicated following through relatable and engaging content on Instagram and TikTok. What kind of content are you focusing on relaying to your followers? What are the most important goals you want to achieve through your social media?

My daily life, cooking, fashion, memes, anime, health and wellness to name a few. I want my content to feel organic and relatable or a page you can look to if you need some style inspiration.

Your authentic online presence propelled you into the modeling and fashion industry, earning you partnerships with brands such as Skims, Alo Yoga and Frankies Bikinis. What do these partnerships mean to you? Do you have any criteria on which brands you partner with?

These partnerships have been so wonderful because they are all brands that I loved and had been wearing for years before we even worked together. I like to work with brands whom I align with and products I would truly use in my everyday routine. You will never catch me posting something that I’ve never tried. I want my content to be as authentic as possible when promoting a brand on my social platforms.

You studied neuropsychology at Santa Monica Community College when you landed a job with Yeezy, working in their showroom during Milan and Paris fashion week. What have you learned from working with them at fashion weeks?

I learned how much work truly goes into building a brand. I also learned how to stand and model in heels for 10+ hours. I never really considered how much of a collective team it takes behind these productions until I was actually experiencing it firsthand. It was such a cool experience to be so hands-on with such talented designers.I loved every minute of it.

You are also passionate about destigmatizing mental health. Why is that close to your heart? How are you using your social platforms to speak out about the importance of mental health?

I had watched family membersstruggle with mental health issues and depression growing up. I still battle with anxiety and panic attacks daily. I know how hard it can be to talk about these taboo topics for fear of being judged or not taken seriously. Talking about mental health struggles can place individuals in a vulnerable state. I want my social media platforms to serve as a safe space for anyone who needs extra support or just wants someone to listen. I read all my DMs and am always there to help someone who’s going through it.

How would you describe your relationship with fashion?

I feel like I’m learning something new about fashion every single day. There are so many different unique styles out there, which constantly leave me feeling inspired. I feel like fashion is a great way for me to express myself. I wouldn’t say I have a particular style,it’s just whatever mood I’m in that day. I will say that I am on Pinterest 24/7 finding style inspiration to elevate my everyday looks.

What are your dreams and goals for the future? Will we see you on the screen again?

I want a big farm out in the country with lots of animals and to grow my fruits and veggies. On the work front, I would love to pursue acting and be on the big screen again. I think a horror or adventure movie would be cool, but I’m open to anything.I’m so eager to get back on set.

Sophie, what is coming up next for you? Can you tell us more about your upcoming projects?

I have a few things in the works that I will be talking about soon.
