What is the 6 quarter rule for GHSA? ›

Football players playing on both the varsity and one sub-varsity team are limited to six quarters of competition in any seven (7) calendar day period beginning with the date of the varsity game. The penalty for violation of this rule will be forfeiture of the game in which the violation occurred and a $1,000.00 fine.

The new 12-team College Football Playoff field will include the five highest-ranked conference champions, which will receive automatic bids. The seven highest-ranked teams remaining will round out the 12-team format. The top four teams will receive a first-round bye to the quarterfinals.

One camp must be in June for two days during a three consecutive day period, and one camp in July for two days during a three consecutive day period (no more than four (4) camp days total). All Football players must have five (5) days acclimatization prior to their first camp of the summer.

How Does the Playoff Bracket Work? Once the seven teams are picked, they are each assigned a seed number based on their record and any required tiebreaking factors. The winningest team is the 1 seed, the team with the most losses is the 7 seed, and everyone else fills in accordingly.

Notre Dame and the other independent teams aren't able to get one of those top four seeds and a bye because they can't become conference champions - even with that friends with benefits deal with the ACC. That means if the Irish go 12-0 and wipe out everyone 58-3, the best they can do is be a 5-seed.

The four highest-ranked conference champions will be seeded Nos. 1-4 and receive a first-round bye. Seeds 5-12 will play each other in the first round. The higher-seeded teams will play host in their first round games.

GHSA Rule: 1.30 - AGE To be eligible to participate in interscholastic activities, a student must not have reached his 19th birthday prior to May 1st, preceding his year of participation.

If they transfer to another high school without a corresponding “bona fide move” of residence, they will be classified as a migratory student and ineligible for all varsity competitions for one calendar year. They will be allowed to compete on sub-varsity teams (freshman and JV) for that calendar year.
